Pantera was a heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas which broke up in 2003. In 2004, their guitar player, Dimebag Darrell, was murdered by a deranged fan in Columbus, Ohio while performing on-stage with his new band, Damageplan.
This picture features a Pantera Avenue street sign in Mesa, Arizona. A friend who lives in the neighborhood has on several occasions seen people attempting to remove the sign. Apparently, thefts occurred frequently enough for city workers to have mounted the latest sign quite high up on the light pole. All of the normal-sized sign poles on the street are missing their Pantera Avenue signs which I assume have long since been plundered by fans of the band. RIP, Dimebag Darrell.
